Since a while I started live mixing my own and existing tracks on a 2-deck mixer. At first it was meant to get in the mood when there’s no inspiration so the deck was integrated in my studio setup. But soon I discovered the fun of being the DJ at small occasions and friend’s parties.
I must admit that I always underestimated the art of mixing tracks along a set. Interaction and feel along with the listeners is important when choosing the next track, spreading the up and down-moments across the evening. At the same time it’s important to make transitions not noticeable keeping in mind that every song has its own characteristic sound, tempo and rhythm.
